New to Calvary Chapel Clayton? Thinking about visiting?

Learn everything you need to know about Calvary Chapel Clayton.

Coming into a new surrounding can sometimes be awkward, so we have put together this page to acquaint you with our Church and hopefully answer any questions you might have. To review our Statement of Faith visit our What We Believe page.

Calvary Chapel Clayton is a non-denominational Church focused on the inerrancy of the Bible and the expository teaching from Genesis to Revelation. We are in affiliation with the Calvary Chapel Movement, which began with Pastor Chuck Smith in the 1960's. Our supreme desire is to know Christ and to be conformed into His image through the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not a denominational Church, nor do we oppose denominations, only their over-emphasis of doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the Body of Christ.

I HAVE QUESTIONS

01

What Are Your

Service Times?

We have Sunday morning services at 9:00 am and 11:00 am. We have Children's Ministry  (Calvary Kids: Nursery - 5th grade) during both services and Youth Ministry (6th - 12th grade) only at the 11:00am service.

We also have a Wednesday night service at 7:00pm. Children's Ministry  (Calvary Kids: Nursery - 5th grade) and Youth Ministry (6th - 12th grade) during service.

02

What do you teach?

A primary distinctive of Calvary Chapel is the endeavor to declare to people the whole counsel of God. We are committed to the expositional (verse-by-verse) teaching of God’s Word. Simply put, we teach the Bible from Genesis to Revelation!

As we teach, we are using the NKJV version of the Bible.

What is worship like?

Our Worship setting and style is contemporary, but not to exclude the more traditional style of worship which we believe to be rich in doctrine and sound theology.  Typically, our worship time will be about twenty-five minutes prior to the teaching of the Word.

04

How should I dress?

The majority of those attending our services are dressed in jeans and t-shirts, while some may come in suits and ties. There's is no one specific way to dress. We just want you to be comfortable!

05

What do you believe

about the Holy Spirit?

At Calvary Chapel Clayton, we believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and we encourage their exercise, but always decently and in order, with an emphasis on the Word of God, which we look to as our primary rule of faith.

congregational make up?

We have a combination of all ages, races, and dress. We are people who have come together regardless of background or social status with one common focus: Love for Jesus Christ and the desire to know Him more intimately. We focus on personal relationships with Jesus Christ through worship, prayer and teaching of the Word of God and fellowship.

08

How do I get involved?

First, we encourage you to come to Church! Second, you should get connected in a Small Group Fellowship. This is a great way to grow in your faith in a safe and comfortable environment without the hustle and bustle of the Main Services. Check out our Get Connected page here. Lastly, we encourage you get involved to serve within the Church. Check out our Get Involved page here.

09

Do I need to

become a member?

No. We do not have a process of "church membership” at Calvary Chapel. We believe that every true born-again-believer has the Holy Spirit living and active in their lives, and it is the presence of the Holy Spirit that places you in the body of Christ, and makes us all members of the church universal. Simply put: If you are a born-again Christian and you regularly attend Calvary Chapel, you are a member! But we highly encourage you Get Connected and Get Involved.

10

Are you affiliated

with Calvary Chapel?

Although affiliated with the "Calvary Chapel Movement", Calvary Chapel of Clayton is modeled after Acts 2:42, which reads, "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers." This verse highlights 4 essential practices of the early church which are, and will be, vital to any congregation or individual believer until the Lord comes back. We've seen this simple focus continue to bless us as we worship together and minister to one another daily.

Our Story

Calvary Chapel of Clayton began as a Thursday night Bible study on February 21, 2008. With a strong emphasis on teaching God’s Word verse by verse. The church has grown to minister to approximately 400 people weekly with a variety of outreaches and ministries.

Pastor Kevin currently teaches 2 Sunday morning services along with an evening service on Wednesday. His commitment to discipling other men and leaders as well as continuing to lead the congregation in missions and outreach is having a powerful impact on the lives of many.

In more than 10 years of ministry, Kevin and his wife Lisa have seen their family grow strong and united in serving the Lord. The desire of Kevin’s heart is to see his congregation grow spiritually while reaching the town of Clayton, our nation and our world, that people may be transformed by the Good News of Jesus Christ. Kevin continues to heed his call by passionately studying God’s Word, prayerfully seeking the Lord’s direction for His church, and vigorously pouring love into the lives of the people God leads his way – persevering until He comes!
